Other Picture

Niagara Cutter SC406 High-Speed Steel End Mill, General Purpose, TiCN Coated, 4 Flutes, Square End, 5/8" Cutting Length, 1/4" Cutting Diameter Feature

  • Number of flutes varies; fewer flutes have more chip-carrying capacity and more flutes produce a finer finish
  • Titanium carbon nitride (TiCN) coating lubricates the end mill for high-temperature stability and offers better abrasion resistance than TiN coating
  • High-speed steel is compatible with a variety of materials
  • Square nose end mills (also called square end) create sharp, unrounded cuts
  • Center-cutting design allows the end mill to plunge into material like a drill bit while also performing conventional surface milling

The Niagara Cutter SC406 TiCN-coated high-speed steel square end mill has a 30-degree helix angle for general-purpose machining on a range of materials. The number of flutes varies; fewer flutes provide better chip-carrying capacity, while more flutes produce a finer finish. The TiCN coating lubricates the end mill for high-temperature stability, and offers increased hardness and greater abrasion resistance than uncoated or TiN-coated tools. High-speed steel (HSS) is a common general-purpose steel for cutting tools and is compatible with a variety of materials. The tool’s square end creates sharp, unrounded cuts.

The 30-degree helix angle supports general-purpose applications. It balances lower angles’ strong cutting edge for difficult-to-machine materials with higher angles’ increased cutting action. The center-cutting design has cutting teeth at the end of the tool, so it can be fed into the workpiece like a drill bit, and used for applications such as profiling and slotting. The cutting diameter tolerance is +0.001” to -0.000”. This tool has a Weldon shank.

End mills are designed to remove material and create multi-dimensional shapes and profiles. They have cutting edges along the outside diameter and flutes that remove chips from the cutting area and allow cooling fluids to enter. If heat is not reduced effectively, the tool’s cutting edges will dull and additional material buildup can occur. The number of flutes can range from two to eight. Two-flute designs offer the most efficient chip removal, but more flutes provide a smoother finish. The shank is the end of the tool held in place by a tool holder or machine. Center-cutting end mills can create three-dimensional shapes and profiles, and make plunge cuts similar to a drill bit. Non-center-cutting end mills are for applications such as peripheral milling and finishing, but cannot make plunge cuts.

Niagara Cutter has been designing and manufacturing precision cutting tools since 1954. Specializing in end mills, cutting mills, and saws, the company is based in New York and manufactures its tools at facilities in Pennsylvania and Massachusetts. This allows the company control over production, from substrate to coating, which is essential for customers in a variety of industries, especially aerospace and automotive.

Other Picture

Precision Twist E3304MG Solid Carbide End Mills, TiN Coated, 4 Flute, Square End, 25.0 mm Cutting Length, 11.00 mm Cutting Diameter Feature

  • Square end, center cutting end mills, for machining side, face, and slots, and boring into material like a drill
  • Titanium nitride (TiN) is a coating to extend cutting tool life and permit faster cutting speeds than with uncoated tools
  • Carbide can run at higher speeds than high-speed steel (HSS), resisting abrasion and high cutting temperatures
  • Four flutes offer a better surface finish and more rigidity than two- and three-flute types and higher feed rates
  • Regular length, for usage with a wide variety of applications, reducing tool changing

The Precision Twist E3302MG series of end mills are a regular length, square end, four-flute design made of carbide with a TiN finish and are used for high-speed machining with best performance in steel and stainless steel.

The TiN finish is a gold-colored ceramic coating that combines hardness and low friction to extend cutting tool life and permit faster cutting speeds than with uncoated tools. You can be more productive and spend less time working. The regular length trades off rigidity for length, so you can work with thicker pieces of material or be able to reach out-of-the-way locations. The carbide material offers many advantages over HSS such as faster feed rates due to its hardness. They can be run several times faster than HSS. Carbide’s high heat and wear resistance help extend the life of the tool and increase productivity.

Square end mills are very versatile with the ability to machine in three dimensions, and the four-flute design has high rigidity, the largest section area, and a better surface finish than two-flute designs, and is suitable for profiling, side milling, and shallow slotting. Most end mills have a 30-degree spiral helix angle, suitable for working with a wide range of materials.

End mills are designed to remove material and create three-dimensional shapes or profiles. Center-cutting end mills can make plunge cuts similar to a drill bit.

Precision manufactures machine tools under the following brands: Precision Twist, Precision Dormer, and Union Butterfield. They have locations around the world, and provide tools adhering to ANSI, NAS, and DIN standards.

Niagara Cutter RHLC754 Cobalt Steel End Mill, High Helix Rougher For Aluminum, TiCN Coated, 3 Flutes, Chamfer End, 2-1/2" Cutting Length, 2" Cutting Diameter, 15-3/4" Overall Length Reviews

Other Picture

Niagara Cutter RHLC754 Cobalt Steel End Mill, High Helix Rougher For Aluminum, TiCN Coated, 3 Flutes, Chamfer End, 2-1/2" Cutting Length, 2" Cutting Diameter, 15-3/4" Overall Length Feature

  • Coarse-pitch roughing end mills have chip-breaking cutting edges that remove material in less time than conventional end mills, and are suitable for machining soft, gummy materials
  • 36-degree helix provides efficient cutting action and chip evacuation required to machine aluminum and nonferrous materials
  • Extended-reach neck style provides access to recessed areas of the workpiece
  • Titanium carbon nitride (TiCN) coating lubricates the end mill for high-temperature stability and offers greater abrasion resistance than uncoated tools
  • Square end creates sharp, unrounded cuts and has a corner chamfer to strengthen the cutting edges

The Niagara Cutter RHLC754 TiCN-coated cobalt steel coarse-pitch rougher end mill has a 36-degree helix and three flutes, and is suitable for machining soft, gummy materials such as aluminum or other nonferrous metals. The coarse-pitch tooth design has chip-breaking cutting edges that remove more material in less time than conventional end mills to support heavier cuts at higher speeds. The 36-degree helix angle offers increased cutting action compared to end mills with lower helix angles, as it moves excess material quickly up the spiral and away from the workpiece. The end mill has three flutes to optimize the feed and cut rate, and produces a rough finish that can be smoothed by a second finishing cut. The extended-reach neck style provides greater access to recessed areas of the workpiece than tools with a standard neck style.

Rougher end mills are special-purpose tools whose chip-breaking cutting edges create small chips for heavy cuts and remove more material in less time than conventional end mills, with minimal vibration (chatter). The TiCN coating offers increased hardness and greater abrasion resistance than uncoated tools. The cobalt steel substrate can be run at faster speeds and stays sharp longer than high-speed steel tools, while offering resistance to heat and abrasion. The tool’s square end creates sharp, unrounded cuts and has a corner chamfer on the cutting edges to provide more strength than standard square end tools in applications where cutting forces are high. The center-cutting design has cutting teeth at the end of the tool, so it can be fed straight into the workpiece like a drill bit for plunge cutting, and used for applications such as slotting and profiling. Cutting diameter tolerance is +0.005” to -0.000". The end mill has a Weldon shank.

Niagara Cutter C430 Carbide End Mill, General Purpose, Uncoated (Bright), 4 Flutes, Square End, 1/4" Cutting Length, 5/64" Cutting Diameter Feature

  • Four flutes produce a better finish than fewer flutes
  • Square nose end mills (also called square end) create sharp, unrounded cuts
  • Carbide can run at higher speeds than high-speed steel, resisting abrasion and high cutting temperatures
  • Uncoated (bright) tools have no additional surface treatment or coating for use on a broad range of materials
  • Center-cutting design allows the end mill to plunge into material like a drill bit while also performing conventional surface milling

The Niagara Cutter C430 uncoated carbide square nose end mill has four flutes and a 30-degree helix angle for general-purpose machining on a range of materials. The tool’s square end creates sharp, unrounded cuts, and the center-cutting design has cutting teeth at the end of the tool, so it can be fed into the workpiece like a drill bit. Four flutes produce a better finish than fewer flutes. The 30-degree helix angle supports general-purpose applications. It balances lower angles’ strong cutting edge for difficult-to-machine materials with higher angles’ increased cutting action.
